Augmented World Event - Superpowers to the People

This past week was the Augmented World Event . Themed 'Superpowers to the People', this year's event showcased the hardware and software augmenting our lives. The event featured over 200 companies leading the charge in augmented and virtual reality, wearable tech and the Internet of Things. Over 3,000 tech professionals engaged in over 20+ workshops, 200+ interactive demos, a VR experience powered by UploadVR and 100+ AWE-inspiring talks from industry leaders and pioneers. AWE is focused on turning ordinary experiences into the extraordinary and empowering people to be better at anything they do in work and life.     Hands down this is still the best event for the commercial side of immersive technologies that brings together industry leaders from all over the world. There were plenty of folks from Europe, Israel, Asia, and all over the U.S.A. Monday was a day full of workshops with Tuesday and Wednesday being the speaker sessions and expo days for the event....

AWE 2013 - Augmented World Event

On June 4-5 in Santa Cara was the Augmented World Event, formerly known as the Augmented Reality Event. As before, the event featured engaging keynotes, great speakers, and plenty of tech to augment anyone's world. This year the fourth annual event opened up to feature other technologies complimentary to augmented reality. In the past the event has been a majority about vision based AR so this was a nice and much needed change. There were several vendors showing off various forms of wearable displays, 3D printers, and more. The event also had a mini-museum of wearable computing glasses that have been made over the years. This year I was chair of the technical and design track so I really didn't get much of a chance to see the expo floor or attend any of the sessions outside my room. Reality became augmented this week in Silicon Valley at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The third annual Augmented Reality Event, aka A.R.E.2012, brought the best and brightest around the world to the Bay area for a two day conference. Companies, research institutes, artists, and more once again got a chance to show off and experience the latest in computer vision, head & eye displays, motion sensor, mobile, and related augmented reality technologies.
